My psychology teacher taught me quite the lesson a few days ago.

When the cops won’t help you in finding your missing sister, who disappeared while jogging in close proximity to the Mary Magdalene Halfway House for Troubled Girls, the body’s natural intuition suggests that you yourself go undercover as a Catholic school girl.

That’s exactly what Larissa (Keijser) chooses to do in The Halfway House. After she finds out that a number of girls have disappeared from the school, with the cops treating the cases as runaways, she dons a homeless outfit and gets admitted to the school. She comes to learn that most of the girls at the school are lipstick lesbians, the resident Father is a fetishist that likes to spank the girls with a ‘JESUS’ paddle, and ohh yeah, there’s a creature in the basement that craves female flesh.

Halfway House is strictly a horror comedy that’s not to be taken seriously. From that angle, it works. Mary Woronov is probably the highlight as the head nun, and many of the other characters are fun to watch as well. For the men there’s all sorts of lesbianism on display, with most of it being done with comedy in mind.

Fun film.
