The Bounty Huntress series.

For just about every person reading this, I’m sure that the above line didn’t spark anything in your mind. But for me, after sitting through the three movies released over a twenty-four hour period, it means quite a bit.

Repacking softcore films for the direct-to-video market is nothing new. Producers and distributors have been doing it for years. The standard approach is to change the title, create flashier artwork, and that’s about it. The Bounty Huntress movies, though, took it a step further.

On the cover of all three movies in the series is a very Tomb Raider-esque looking woman. Usually with easy access to grenades and guns, it looks like the audience is in for a kick ass flick starring a hot woman blowing shit up. As Jim Wynorski would put it, it’s one “for the sports fans.”

This also reveals another facet of the direct-to-video industry; they’re liars and cheats. Bounty Huntress is just a repackaged softcore film with all the sex cut out, not to mention that model on the cover being nowhere near the cover, leaving it entirely limp.

I’ll give it some credit though. Unlike its two sequels, Bounty Huntress actually involves, you know, a female bounty hunter. Yes, it’s a revolutionary concept that wasn’t seen in the other two because, like this one, they were just retitled softcore projects.

Despite picking up the 72-minute R rated version as opposed to the unrated, I still expected it to play out like most of the variety; five minutes of wretched dialogue followed by three-five minutes of typical sex.

The people behind Bounty Huntress, however, decided to cut the sex scenes down to nothing in order to avoid having to resubmit the movie for grading to the MPAA. As a result, damn near sixty minutes of Bounty Huntress is spent showcasing an inane plot about a big-breasted bounty huntress and a blond haired, male bounty hunter begrudgingly teaming up to track down a supposed mob killer who has bolted after getting out on bail. Along the way they team up with a pair of bisexual strippers, and you know what that leads to, albeit briefly.

As per the usual, Bounty Huntress is a poor softcore flick made worse by the complete lack of fast-forwardable sex.
Followed by Bounty Huntress 2.
