Jesus Christ. No. No. No. No.

The onslaught of direct-to-video zombie movies needs to stop right now. Zombiez may have been awful, but it didn’t offend my sensibilities as much as Day of the Dead 2: Contagium did. It is horrendously bad on all levels. I don’t care if this was called Zombiez 2, The Great American Zombie Adventure, or just plain Contagium, I would still be damning the people behind this for making something so bad. The fact that some greedy person decided to shell out money for the rights to a Day of the Dead sequel for marketing purposes just makes Contagium all that much worse.

A virus retrieved after a Russian spy plane crashed in 1968 gets unleashed in a mental hospital in the present day. Turns out this virus transmit via direct contact with the infected, and those contaminated soon cough up black goo, form boils on their skin, develop ESP, and eventually turn into flesh-seeking zombies. That sounds fun and all, but only thirty-five minutes of so of this ninety minute movie is about the zombies. The other parts are worthless, bad soap opera level garbage that tries to be the mental hospital-women’s prisons flick combo that no one wanted to see. This is complete with the cool psychiatrist who has to deal with the evil head doctor and the feuding girls who all spout off dialogue that will make your ears cry.

Stupid movies can be fun to watch, but not when they’re downright boring. Day of the Dead 2 barely kept my attention during the zombie attack scenes, so you can imagine how bland the rest of it is.

Don’t even get me started on the nonsensical script.
What’s sad is that these shysters are currently helming Creepshow 3.
