Bring It On Again
Release Date: 13 January 2004 (USA)
Genre: Comedy | Sport
Director: Damon Santosegano (Three To Tango)
Writer: Claudia Grazioso (Mr. Prez), Brian Gunn & Mark Gunn (2gether)
Staring: Anne Judson-Yager, Bree Turner and Kevin Cooney

The sequel Gods must be disappointed in us, for they are anointing us with nothing but pure filth this year. Lion King 1 & ½ has already been bestowed upon us, while on the slot for March and April are The Skulls 3 and Wild Things 2. The first of many 2004 direct-to-video sequels was released with actual television advertisement making it seem like a worthy counterpart to the first. Once again, that my friends, is the genius of marketing. Bring It On Again, the Kirsten Dunst-less craphole manages to be ten times worst than the first, and that’s saying a whole hell of a lot.

Everything that you’d expect to be present is. A dumbass blonde heroine, the bitch, a black girl, the uncharismatic guy who falls in the love with the dumbass blonde, angry theater girls, and worst of all, the self-serving dean are all included. While the first one was about a group of girls competing in a cheerleading competition designed for high schoolers, this one takes the big leap of being about a group of girls competing in a cheerleading competition designed for college students.

To make matters worst, Bring It On Again completely spits on the sport of cheerleading by making it out to be an activity that anyone can do with a few days of practice. Keep in mind that I have very little respect for the “sport” of cheerleading, but Jesus H. Christ! The team of misfits that is put together to defeat (uhh ohh, there I go with spoilers) the bitchy snobs would not be able to overcome a cohesive cheerleading unit (who were even the reigning champions so you knew they were great from the offset) so easily. If it weren’t for the reference to “The Canterbury Tales” that’s thrown in, this might be venturing even closer to Game Over territory.

If you need any more convincing about why you shouldn’t rent Bring It On Again, look no farther than one of the film’s three screenwriters. Claudia Grazioso is responsible for the upcoming Mr. Prez, featuring Lil’ Bow Wow as a poor kid who wins an essay contest that allows him to become the President of the United States for one day. Yikes.
