Blessed is a prime example of why people dislike the direct-to-video industry so much.

Andrew Stevens Entertainment, along with DEJ Productions, grabbed a star (Heather Graham), the script of a classic movie (Rosemary’s Baby), and essentially made a copy. Changing only a few elements of the script, not to mention being completely inferior to what it strives to be, Blessed only manages to be interesting in its final five minutes.

Before that, it’s just vapid. A young woman (Graham) and her husband, a novelist striving for a book deal, decide that now is the best time to have a baby. When they find that conceiving is not nearly as easy as poking a hole in the condom, they seek out a fertility clinic to douse her eggs. Once she does get pregnant, the twisted facts start to unravel. Andrew Stevens’ once hot mother shows up in a subplot, as does a crazy priest, but nothing makes any kind of substantial impact.

Congratulations to Heather Graham, though, who surely cashed a paycheck worth a few million in exchange for lending a couple weeks of her time to this.
DVD: Barebones.
