After Kal Penn’s post-Harold & Kumar direct-to-video effort Dude, Where’s The Party? supplied me with plenty of entertainment, I expected much of the same from Bachelor Party Vegas. Unfortunately, there’s a different production team behind Vegas. While the people behind Party sought to crack out multi-cultural jokes that many age groups could enjoy, Vegas was produced by the people behind the Ultimate Fighting Championship. This leads to a half-naked fat guy, a half-naked senior citizen, UFC cross-over promotion, lines like “Strippers love dilos,” and other badly-written sophomoric gags.

Four idiots and a groom head to Las Vegas to celebrate their friend’s forthcoming marriage. After having their dildos confiscated by airport security, and also finding out that a blow-up doll can’t fit through a metal detector, they soon arrive in Vegas. Here they discover that their party limo comes equipped with a post-menopausal stripper. They eventually arrive at the casino to meet the party planner (Pastore) that has promised to show them a good time. Kathy Griffin pops in as an Elvis impersonator to rob the boys, who are eventually threatened with decapitation by UFC fighter Chuck Liddell after they show up on a porn set to watch his girlfriend get railed. Somewhere along the way they’re arrested once (or was it twice?) and almost gang raped.

As you can imagine, these characters do not have the greatest night. Neither will any viewer with a triple digit IQ who decides to watch Bachelor Party Vegas. I’ve watched a lot of poor teen-oriented comedies, but, ignoring Frostbite, I’ll be damned if there’s anything out there worse than Bachelor Party Vegas.

Not even Kal Penn and Donald Faizon can squeeze comedy out of this script. This is the kind of sophomoric material that wouldn’t have cut it in a pitch meeting for Tomcats. Writer Eric Bernt has never been able to write a good action movie (see Romeo Must Die and Virtuosity), and with Bachelor Party Vegas he proves that he can’t write or direct a gross-out-comedy. I somehow doubt that Bernt looked at this as anything other than a paycheck, which I’m sure is a sentiment shared by both Penn and Faizon as well.

Terrible.
DVD: Barebones.
